On Saturday, October 24, Storm boys varsity soccer defeated longtime rival The Hill School 2–0, securing a notable victory in one of the season’s most anticipated matchups.

Ishamail Willie ’30 scored Mercersburg’s first goal from a corner kick taken by Tadhg O’Donohue ’29. João Salomão Ventura ’28 added the second goal, his 15th of the season, assisted by Willie.

Head coach Timothy O’Donohue was pleased with the team’s performance. “It was an overall good performance by all the players,” O’Donohue said. “I’m really proud of the effort and concentration of the players.”

Assistant coach Will Slater acknowledged the challenges Mercersburg faced during the match. “It was a tough game. Hill played really well, especially the first half,” Slater said. “But in the second half, we were able to find some solutions.”

Captain Christian Garcia-Rivas ’27 also expressed satisfaction with the team’s effort. “The team played very well, and we fought hard.”

Ewan McDowell ’27, the team’s only four-year player, credited Mercersburg’s determination throughout the season. “This year we’ve kind of found success in that grittiness and that hard work.”
