The Storm girls varsity soccer fell 2–0 to longtime rival The Hill School last Saturday. Despite the loss, players and coaches considered it one of the team’s strongest performances of the season.
Head coach Kristen Pixler was pleased with the team’s improvement. “It was by far, I think, our best game,” Pixler said. Despite five injuries, four of which were concussions, and significant roster changes, the team continued to compete. “They were talking, they were communicating, they were applying stuff that we had been working on in practice,” she said.
Captain Ellie Stine ’27 agreed that the team performed well despite injuries, highlighting Emma Thaci ’30 for her performance in goal.
Suzanna Painter ’29 credited the team’s passing and communication. “We were able to make a lot of good passes and work as a team,” Painter said. She also praised captain Grace Himes ’28 for developing into a strong leader.
Stine also emphasized the importance of team culture. She and fellow captain Jennica Nguyen ’27 have prioritized creating an environment where players enjoy competing together.
As the season approaches its conclusion, Pixler hopes the team can continue improving its passing and score against Lawrenceville School in their next and penultimate contest.
